VolunteeR WITH JUNIOR BEASTIES

Why we need you!

For every official Junior Beasties game, we need a Team Manager, a Coach, an Assistant Coach, an Assistant Referee and a Ground Marshal, for every team.

The official referee will not allow any game to start without both a ground marshal and assistant referee from our team, as these are core safety roles.

There are also some other roles available across the Club, have a look at our Contact List page to see vacancies, please get in touch with the Club for more info on these if you are interested!

Please note, for all adult volunteers you will need a WWCC to participate in these roles. Please see Step 1B on our Registration page for more info on this.

Interested in becoming a Team Manager and helping your kids rugby run smoothly and efficiently?

The role of the Team Manager is to:

  • Communicate on Teamapp the games and information for their team
  • Submit the team list, Assisstant Referee, Ground Marshall and Coach on the Rugby Match Day app each week, prior to the game
  • Responsible for the distribution and collection of Beasties uniform

Please get in touch with the club for more information.

Interested in becoming a Coach and leading a team to victory?

The role of the Coach is to:

  • Work with the player coach every Thursday at training and Sunday for games

Anyone wishing to be a coach must have completed a Smart Rugby accreditation.

Every year in January, we will send out a form on Teamapp for anyone who would like to register to be a coach.

Please get in touch with the club for more information.

Interested in becoming a Ground Marshal and helping keep our games and players safe?

Every team must have a Ground Marshal for every Competition Match and every Finals Series Match. The referee will NOT start the Match unless both Teams have a Ground Marshal.

The role of the Ground Marshal is to:

  • Ensure your Team’s spectators / supporters are not in breach of the SJRU Code of Conduct and in particular there is NO verbal abuse of Match Officials or players.
  • Remove any person associated with your Team who does not comply with the directions issued to them by a ground marshal or the referee. The offending person should be directed to leave the playing enclosure immediately.

To access the online learning centre where the Ground Marshall course is, along with other materials, you will need a Rugby Xplorer account, register or login here.

Please get in touch with the club for more information.

Interested in becoming an Assistant Referee and run the sidelines for your child's game?

The role of the Assistant Referee is to:

  • Help the official referee in making sure the game runs smoothly and can be refereed fairly
  • Allow the game to run, as without an Assistant Referee a game can't go ahead

The minimum requirement to be an Assistant Referee is the Smart Rugby qualification, with a recommendation to complete the Assistant Referee course

To access the online learning centre where these courses are, along with other materials, you will need a Rugby Xplorer account, register or login here. You will need the Smart Rugby certification to fulfill this role. To find out more about the Assistant Referee course and how to begin, please go to the 'Assistant Referee' section on this page.

If you are interested in becoming a paid referee, please visit our Become a Referee page, with detailed steps on how to get involved.
